About This Role

 

The Family Pastor is responsible for overseeing all family ministry activities and primarily leads and shepherds the families in our church—with an emphasis on leading youth ministry.  The Family Pastor must have a dynamic, outgoing personality and work/connect well with others. 

The Family Pastor is first an advocate for the youth and children at FMNaz. Next, an advocate for parents in equipping them to lead their children spiritually, and third, an advocate for mature adults who disciple and mentor both youth, children, and parents. 

The Family Pastor has direct responsibility over student ministries (7th – 12th grades) as well as assisting in the vision casting for kids (nursery – 6th grade) and young adult ministries.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks of the Family Pastor

 

  1. To be more hands on with the Youth ministry of FMNaz (7th to 12th grade).  (Think Youth pastor here)
  2. Oversee all ministry activities, and work with established volunteer base, for children (ages birth–5thgrade), including Sunday mornings and special events.
  3. Plan and train volunteers to implement curriculum and discipleship at children’s worship services.
  4. Choose and lead the preparation of age-appropriate curriculum for each age level.
  5. Create programming and engaging activities for each age group that facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
  6. Recruit, train, and schedule teams of children’s/youth ministry volunteers.
  7. Plan, schedule, and oversee special events such as Baby Dedications, Family Movie Nights, VBS, etc.
  8. Provide pastoral care to youth/children and families in the church, including hospital visits, follow-up, and counseling.
  9. Manage smooth check-in procedures on Sundays and track weekly children’s/youth ministry attendance.
  10. Plan and give vision to events, leading volunteers and creating/maintaining the budget.

This position reports to the Senior Pastor.

This position relates to the leadership team.

 

 

The Family Pastor participates in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual team meetings as a part of the leadership team.

·      Maintain God-ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus Christ first, your spouse second, your children third and the ministry fourth.

·      Give at least 10% of your income toward the mission and vision of FMNaz.

·      Be loyal to the vision and staff of FMNaz and always protect the unity of the church.

·      Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through all interactions with congregation, staff, and volunteers.
